Connection is a concept that often occurs in policy documents, vision statements for the future and objectives of (neighbourhood) organisations. In general, these concepts remain very abstract and many find it difficult to link them to concrete solution. This research describes concrete definitions, problems and recommendations that can provide answers to the complex issues.
The concept of connection and encounters between different people in the city is a personal fascination of both authors. In addition, the inhabitants of the research area, Bospolder and Tussendijken, are very varied when it comes to ethnic backgrounds and age groups. The districts of Bospolder and Tussendijken are therefore extremely interesting when it comes to studying connections between people of different ages and backgrounds. The research therefore focuses on the following main question: What mismatch(es) can be observed between supply and demand in the districts of Bospolder and Tussendijken that results in a lack of connection between a number of population groups?
