This study looked at the labor demand in the Spanish polder and Merwe-Vierhaven to investigate to what extent residents of Bospolder-Tussendijken (also BoTu) could work here and whether / which local initiatives could contribute to this. This research was carried out within the framework of the ‘Resilient BoTu 2028’ program, which aims to raise the neighborhood to the urban average. Now the district is lagging behind in areas such as language skills, education level, employment and income. The conclusion is that, despite various initiatives, there is insufficient knowledge of the labor market and available jobs in the Spanish polder and Merwe-Vierhaven. In addition, there are several other obstacles. Some of the employees do not take their work seriously and feel little responsibility. This keeps them changing jobs. It is also an obstacle that the Spanish Polder does not have good transport options to BoTu, especially when it comes to a night shift. Merwe-Vierhaven has better transport to BoTu, but does not seem to be very open to employees from BoTu.
