In this minor, you will have the oppotunity to research socio-spatial inequality themes such as housing, education, work and health as part of an interdisciplinary team. This research takes place in one of the seven focus neighbourhoods of the National Programme Rotterdam South (NPRZ). The research will be carried out on location, in the studio of Veldacademie in Rotterdam-Zuid and from the Faculty of Architecture. For the fieldwork you actively go into the neighbourhoods and talk to residents and various stakeholders.
Veldacademie offers the fieldwork course within the total quarterly programme. This research methodology focuses on fieldwork. You learn to make a multidisciplinary analysis of an area by combining quantitative and qualitative data with policy data. The course consists of three modules: data collection and source research; methods for qualitative research (interviews and observations); analysis techniques and data visualisation. The course will help you make a strategic plan that will be delivered to you at the end of the quarter.
The minor Cities, Migration & Socio-Spatial Inequality is a combined programme of Delft University of Technology, Erasmus University Rotterdam and Leiden University, organised by the Faculty of Architecture, Delft University of Technology. You can register for the minor if you are a third-year bachelor's student in architecture at TU Delft.
