The design studio, 'Design for a resilient Rotterdam' is intended for students in the first year of their Master track Architecture. The course is given at the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, and will take place in the work studio of Veldacademie and at the design location.
You will design a mobile pavilion for a Rotterdam neighbourhood. The aim of the pavilion is to bring together different neighbourhood residents as local meeting place. You will carry out fieldwork and establish contact with residents and stakeholders so that your design meets the wishes and needs of the district.
The pavilion must be modular and moveable to different places of significance in the neighbourhood. Hence, the studio will emphasize on detailing the design. At the end of the design process, the results will be published and a final judgement round will take place. There is a public jury, consisting of neighbourhood residents and other interested parties, and a professional jury, consisting of stakeholders, teachers and designers. The winning designs have a chance to be built on location.
