what is the veldacademie

The Veldacademie is a practice-oriented research studio and knowledge platform for integrated neighbourhood development. In this domain, it initiates, organizes and conducts action research, interdisciplinary education and professional training. This is done from the perspective of the everyday users of the city: residents, entrepreneurs and the social realm. Veldacademie works primarily on issues of neighborhood development from the perspective of Rotterdam-based practice.

THEMES WE WORK ON

Urban researchers from various disciplines work at the Veldacademie. The team is reinforced by students, interns or specialized external researchers at the project level. Themes that we on work in-house are: public space, public facilities, social resilience, healthy living environment, care and welfare, safety, growing up in the city, talent development, healthy living environment, inclusive city and housing.

THE LINK BETWEEN IMPLEMENTATION, POLICY AND SCIENCE

Since 2008, Veldacademie has been positioned as a connecting link between implementation, policy and science, cooperating extensively with several universities, particularly TU Delft, Erasmus University, and Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences. Veldacademie is part of the Municipality of Rotterdam. It is part of the Strategy and Policy Team of the Social Development Cluster or Cluster Maatschappelijke Ontwikkeling (MO). Expertise on strategy, fields, international affairs and research are brought together here.
