In this course, you will learn skills needed to analyse an urban area. ‘Get in touch with the Neigborhood' is meant for students in the first year of the Master track Architecture. The course is taught at the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, TU Delft.
You will learn to make a neighbourhood analysis using the living environment analysis methodology of the Veldacademie. This research methodology focuses on doing fieldwork by connecting with residents and various stakeholders in the neighbourhood. You will learn to make a multidisciplinary analysis of an area by combining quantitative, qualitative and policy data. The course consists of three modules: data collection and source research; methods for qualitative research (interview and observation); analysis techniques and data visualisation.
Get in touch with the Neigborhood' takes place in the third quarter of the school year. In the fourth quarter, you will be able to directly apply the knowledge and insights from this elective subject in the design subject 'Design for a resilient Rotterdam'.
